5 - To and fro

Sam and Hannah

When Sam and Hannah are at the same place it does not matter who is active. Both know everything that has been found during the game. You don't have to follow my choice of person.

Hannah

Sam is at the control-board on the Island-Ship. Make Hannah walk through the tunnel-opening and use the chair-lift to get to the Island. .
Shift to Sam.

Sam

Click the first green button and then the hand to get to the Island World.
When you have landed, take the lift, walk the ramp and use the chair-lift.
Pass the spines, go down the ramp and take the gondola to the next Island.
Shift to Hannah.

Hannah

Let Hannah take the same way as Sam and stop at the two lifts.
Hannah and Sam are now together again.
Shift to Sam.

Sam

Go to the right and up the ramp. The man is coming out again. He says something like this:

"No accusations? Good. You grasp how it is. Now go to the elevator. The pearl is there."

Walk down the ramp to the first lift. Look down at the floor at the lift-border. You see a pearl but you can't take it. You must move the lift. But you cant at the same time take the pearl. You must let Hannah move the lift.
Shift to Hannah.


Hannah

Enter the lift and press the up-button. Don't leave the lift.
Shift to Sam.

Sam

Pick up the pearl.
Walk the ramp to the next floor and go behind the oil-flask. Click at the table to put the small blue flask back.


Zoom in at the big oil-flask and point at the scale. The pearl is activated. Click. The mark goes down one unit and you can hear that sound of running oil. Go behind and pick up the small blue flask.


When you pass the house the man comes out again.

"We have been forced to be a careful people, too.
Matia has always required it of us, and now more than ever.
You are learning that we value how as much as what.
There may still be time.
You'll need the balloon.
The Good Servant may yet be convinced to stay its hand if you choose right."

He disappears in an optical effect.

Go to the chair lift and take it to the ship. Exit the lift and stay where you are.
Shift to Hannah.

Hannah

Take the lift down and go back to the ship. Go to the control-table.
Click at the second green button to enter the destination for Bosh Tunnel.
When you have landed stay at the control-table.
Shift to Sam.

Sam

Take the Chair-lift. Enter the tunnel and go to the priest's room in the temple.
Now the priest is content and gives you a CD. It is the same sort that you used earlier to get the destination-coordinates to the fish-balloon. The strange man told you that you needed the balloon so you had better go there.
Exit the room and go to the plaza outside the temple. (R, F (down the stairs), L, F, F, F, R, F (Through the tunnel.))


Take the stairs down and walk over the first arched bridge. When you come to the next bridge Angela Davies (or her ghost) appears. She is not stable and talks in broken sentences.

Angela Davies vanishes. Instead Dr. Hovis appears. He is aggressive as usual and warns you not to listen to what Angela says. Matia can change itself as it likes and you cannot trust anybody


Walk forward to the end of the tunnel. When you are out of it, turn around and close the lumped door.
Then take the long catwalk to the lift.


Enter the lift and go upwards.
Enter the fish-balloon, go to the captain's chair and sit down.
Click at the first button to the left to enter the coordinates for the World of Balloons.
Press the middle-button and you are off.


Exit the fish-balloon and walk to the other end where the big round plate is.
Click at it to fasten the CD. Click at each one of the three symbols in the highlighted sector to get the corresponding two symbols for each.


When you have all three groups return to the control-table and enter the coordinates.
This done, click at the center-button. Notice the third green button at the left side.
After a nights journey with flying fish as company you have come to Matia's zone. Now you must make Hannah come here too.
Shift to Hannah


Hannah

Hannah is still at the control-panel in the Island-Ship and only has to enter the new coordinates to take off..
But the ship refuses to move.


The new coordinate puzzle

All coordinates have been changed. There is only one group at this plate and that must be the old coordinates. You have to change them yourself.

You have two groups of old and new coordinates. Compare the old ones with the new ones in both groups.
Written in our number-system we get:

In the table you can see that the changes are the same but differs between longitude and latitude. (Upper and lower row.)
You shall evidently change the coordinates at the new plaque in the same way.
But you will soon find out that is not that simple.

If we start with the upper row which is easiest, the new values in our number system would be: 10 -1, 14 but we have only got symbols for the numbers 1 to 12. We must use a 12-system.
Think about the way we count with minutes and seconds. 45 seconds + 30 seconds = 75 seconds but 60 seconds are changed into 1 minute and we get 1 minute 15 seconds.
We could do the same thing here but we don't know the names of the different units. We could call them *, ** and ***.
12 *** = 1**
14*** = 1** 2***
After the change we have 10*. (-1+1)**. 2***
-1+1 =0 but we have no symbol for 0, we have to use the symbol for 12 instead.
The new coordinates written the Argilian way are:. Enter them on the left console.

The lower coordinates are 3*, 12**, 10*** and shall be changed with 0*, +1**. +4*** and we get 3*, 13**, 14***.
!4*** = 1** 2*** and we get 3* 14* 2 *** or 4*2**2***
Here is a great logic fault in the game. They have not changed the first coordinate to 4 but kept the 3 saying that the first coordinates never change.
So we have to use the new coordinates 3* 2** 3*** or in Argilian: . Enter them on the right console.

Click the hand in the center-circle. A third green button is seen and the ship takes off to the new destination.
Now both Sam and Hannah are in the Matia Zone but evidently not in the same place.
The mysterious journey can continue.
